“Unlocking the Cage” Trailer

It’s almost here! Unlocking the Cage, Pennebaker Hegedus Films’ documentary about the Nonhuman Rights Project, will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah on Jan. 25th. The trailer for the film is now available and was featured as today’s Sundance 2016 trailer of the day:

NhRP President Steven M. Wise, along with DA Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus, will attend all five Sundance showings to answer questions and talk about the NhRP’s work and the film, which will premiere on HBO in July of this year.

For more information on Unlocking the Cage, visit the Pennebaker Hegedus Films website and see our blog posts Can “Unlocking the Cage” Be the Next “Blackfish”? and Nonhuman Rights at Sundance.

  1. Thanks for the update! I’m excited about the documentary! I made an update on my animal rights blog to spread the info :)

  2. Nancy Poznak says:

I assume everyone in the Nonhuman Rights Project is vegan. At least I hope so. Please confirm. Thank you.

    • Lauren Choplin says:

Nancy: yes, the NhRP’s core team are all vegan, though we don’t ask the hundreds of people who’ve assisted us as volunteers whether they are. Our impression is that most people who support the NhRP support many other important and related animal causes and organizations. Thank you for your interest!

  3. Bob banner says:

How can we get permission to screen the film?

  4. Millie Carson says:

Will this film be shown at the International Wildlife Film festival in Jackson, WY? Also how can one get a copy to present in a documentary series?

  5. Anne-Marie says:

Will the documentary be shown in Montreal, Ottawa or Toronto, Canada? If not, is it possible to purchase the film?

    • Lauren Choplin says:

Yes, Anne-Marie! It will be at Hot Docs in Toronto on May 2nd, 3rd, and 8th, and we believe it will have distribution across Canada. The official Unlocking the Cage website is the best way to remain up to date on all screenings: http://www.unlockingthecagethefilm.com/

Thank you so much for your interest and support!

  6. ROBYN GROGAN says:
